Small Art Poster

To provide a super-affordable, display-worthy print option, we needed to step down in size, to small-format printing options. But we really didn't want to leave our "7476" dimensioning--we are a tad uncompromising with both symbolism and quality--so, we thought what if we multiplied the original dimensions by .7476? Lo and behold, we found that by just playing with 9/100 of an inch of the vertical we got 21.76" x 22.26" in honor of the future 400th and 450th celebrations of the Declaration of Independence. How cool is that!? And, of course, you can frame this puppy, too.

Off-set print on traditional poster paper. These are shipped rolled. Finished dimensions, including unprinted plain white borders, are 22.5” x 23".

Description

Illumination 1776 by Matthew David Grant is a commissioned oil on board that captures one of history's most consequential moments — Thomas Jefferson at his writing desk, quill in hand, drafting the Declaration of Independence. Looking over his shoulder with quiet interest is Jesus of Nazareth. The full Committee of Five stands witness: Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston.

The painting asks every viewer a timeless question: was the hand of the Lord involved in the founding of America, and in what manner?

Like Arnold Friberg's Prayer at Valley Forge, this is a painting that does not preach — it invites reflection. It belongs in any room, in any collection, for any American who has ever wondered about Providence.
